Easy to install, although the rivet nuts take some muscle and require the use of the special tool, which can be rented from Bernardi. I don't understand why they don't just have this threaded like the other 5 holes, but whatever. I got them installed in no time, and look great and kids love them! Best price of anywhere, fast shipping!

Except for those two stupid rivet nuts installation would be about a 15 minute job. But you don't need the fancy tool to install the rivet nuts. Just buy a 2 1/2" long 8mm x 1.25 thread bolt & nut at the hardware store or home center (take the rivet nut with you to be sure you get the correct threads)along with several washers which have holes close to the size of the bolt. 5-16" fender washers work well. Screw the nut onto the bolt, then put on the washers, & screw on the rivet nut, flange end first. Stick the rivet nut up thru the hole in the frame, hold the bolt head with a socket wrench, & use an open end wrench to screw the nut up toward the rivet nut to seat it. Some grease on the bolt threads & between the washers helps. The trick is to keep the rivet nut from being turned by the action of the washers until it expands enough to grab the sides of the hole. Took me awhile to figure that out. I think you'd have the same problem with the rivet nut tool. I expanded the nut just a little before sticking it in the hole so the fit was tighter, and added a rubber washer between the first fender washer & the vehicle frame to help keep that washer from rotating when I tightened the nut. Once the rivet nut grabs you're home free. Just keep tightening the nut until the rivet nut is firmly seated, then unscrew your bolt leaving the rivet nut in place.

Thanks for the 8mm x 1.25 bolt and washers tips above. I did this and it worked great. Only $2.24 from Home depot and no hassle renting a one time tool. Thanks again! Total install was under around an hour.

...or you can rent the Rivnut tool for $20 and save yourself the headache. Install took about an hour. Love the product!
